Fan Attempts Suicide Amid Election Rumours
Amid the high political drama, a shocking incident was reported from Tamil Nadu. A 28-year-old man, identified as K. Mahendran from Krishnagiri, allegedly attempted suicide after hearing rumours of Vijay’s possible defeat. According to police, Mahendran slit his throat outside his residence on Monday morning, reportedly in distress over the election outcome. Local residents quickly intervened and rushed him to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing intensive treatment.
TVK’s Strong Performance Shakes Political Landscape
Early trends indicate a remarkable performance by TVK, which has surged ahead, leaving the M. K. Stalin-led DMK trailing in third place with leads in only a few dozen constituencies as of midday.
At the same time, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) appears to be holding its ground. Party leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has reportedly secured a strong lead of over 17,000 votes in his Edappadi constituency, reinforcing his position as a key player in the state.

Vijay, popularly known as “Thalapathy,” entered politics in 2024 with the launch of TVK. Since then, he has maintained that his party would contest elections independently. During the campaign, he framed the elections as a “democratic battle,” emphasizing that TVK would not compromise its political principles.
Despite speculation and reported pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form an alliance, TVK firmly declined any such move, reiterating its commitment to going solo.

On counting day, TVK spokesperson Felix Gerald expressed strong confidence in the party’s performance, stating that it is on track to form the government independently. He criticized the DMK leadership, claiming that the current trends reflect a political shift in the state.
