Shamed police officer from 'inadequate' force 'recorded sex clip in uniform on duty'

A shamed police officer from an 'inadequate' British force was caught filming an erotic video of herself in uniform while on duty, a disciplinary panel heard. WPC Clare Ogden, 40, sent her partner the sexual clip which contained footage of her pleasuring herself and quit her job in 2021 after the allegations came to light.

She also allegedly recorded two other clips of a sexual nature of herself at Redcar police stations and when confronted about her behaviour by senior officers, she boldly claimed she was on her lunch break and was technically not on duty. A disciplinary panel was informed there was 'no excuse' for her inappropriate behaviour that could damage the public's perception of the force, the Daily Star reports.

It is not the first time Cleveland police force has come under fire in recent years as they were previously slated by the Inspectorate of Constabulary who assessed the force's effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy and deemed all inspected aspects as 'inadequate' - a first for any UK force. The unsatisfactory force were found to be failing at stopping crime and anti social behaviour, locating and arresting suspects, protecting the vulnerable, controlling corruption and appropriately treating the public and its own staff.

Inspectors were said to be specifically worried about the lack of 'ethical behaviour'. Mark Ley-Morgan, for the force, told the hearing WPC Ogden "recorded three videos of a sexual nature while at work and in uniform. It is accepted that in one of those videos she is performing a sex act on herself.

"There are two other videos which she says are not sexual in nature. The panel has the videos and the descriptions of what they contain so you will be able to make up your own minds on that point."

She admitted that the embarrassing video was a "ill-judged spur of the moment decision" (Andy Commins / Daily Mirror)

He said WPC Ogden told officers: "I am not accepting I am on duty. I was on my lunch break."

Mr Ley-Morgan went on: "With respect, that is simply wrong. When a police officer comes on duty for their shift they are on duty for the entirety of that shift.

"They are not working at Sainsbury's where they might get an hour to go off. She was in uniform and she was in a police station."

Mr Ley-Morgan said WPC Ogden accepted recording her sex video amounted to gross misconduct, but he said she believed sending the WhatsApp messages was misconduct but not "gross". WPC Ogden, who was employed by the force in 2004, confessed to the hearing that making the dirty video was an "ill-judged spur of the moment decision".

She added: "I went downstairs in the office to use the bathroom. I was caught in the moment. I don't think I have experienced embarrassment and shame like it.

''I am devastated. If I could turn back time and change my actions I would. I cannot put into words how sorry I am."

A second disgraceful officer from the same force, PC Matthew Lewis was evicted from the police for carrying out ''astonishing sexual behaviour'' on duty. He and a female performed sexual acts on one another on police ground, although a claim they had intercourse in a police van was not proven.

Lewis sent intimate pictures of a young woman to the female officer he was having a relationship with.
