Shakira Unveils 'Las mujeres no lloran': A Vinyl Debut Celebrating Strength and Transformation

MIAMI -- Shakira announced today the release of her highly anticipated twelfth studio album, "Las mujeres no lloran" (Women No Longer Cry), slated for release on March 22. This album marks a significant milestone, being the first in her career to be issued on vinyl.

The globally acclaimed Colombian artist posted the announcement on social media, accompanied by an evocative photo of her face with diamond-like tears rolling down. This powerful image was accompanied by a message dedicated to her fans:

"I haven't created this alone, but with all of you, and with my pack of she-wolves who have been there supporting me every step of the way.

"Creating this album has been an alchemical process. Writing each song, I rebuilt myself. Singing them, my tears turned into diamonds, and my vulnerability into resilience."

The songs in "Las mujeres no lloran"

Described by Sony Music as "a dazzling testimony to Shakira's resilience and strength, as well as the power of music to turn the most challenging experiences into valuable moments," the album, her first in seven years, promises to be a monumental addition to her discography.

"Las mujeres no lloran" features seven hit singles that have already made waves in the music industry. Among them is "Music Sessions Vol. 53" with Bizarrap and "TQG" with Karol G, both of which debuted at the top of the global Spotify Top 50 chart.

Remarkably, "Music Sessions Vol. 53" has become the most-streamed Spanish-language song in a single day in Spotify's history and has garnered accolades at the 2023 Latin GRAMMYs®, winning 'Song of the Year' and 'Best Pop Song', while breaking 12 Guinness World Records.

The album also includes collaborations like "Te Felicito" with Rauw Alejandro, "Copa Vacía" with Manuel Turizo, and "Acróstico," featuring vocals from Milan Sasha Piqué, Shakira's children.

Additionally, the album is rounded out with eight new songs and a remix. None of them have been announced. However, fans speculated there would be a new duet with Alejandro Sanz, after Shakira published a video on her Instagram Stories of both of them at the hairdresser.

"When you go to the hairdresser and find your best friend there," she wrote with the video.

Shakira on vinyl

In an exciting first, Shakira ventures into the world of vinyl with "Las mujeres no lloran". The album will be available in four distinct art editions, each paired with an exclusive colored vinyl variant: red, sapphire, emerald, and diamond. While the diamond edition will be widely available, the other variants are set for limited release at specific websites and locations.

The red one will be sold on Target, the sapphire one in Shakira.com, and the emerald one in Amazon.com

The buzz around this release was heightened last Sunday when Shakira teased fans during the American football final, sharing photos that resonated with the album's diamond tear imagery.
