The much-anticipated Bristol Shakespeare Festival is set to make its grand return in 2023, offering an impressive array of touring theatre companies and an in-house musical. Spanning the summer months from June to August, this volunteer-run extravaganza has become an annual tradition embraced by Shakespeare enthusiasts, theatre aficionados, and culture enthusiasts alike.
Promising top-quality entertainment, this year's festival will showcase troupes renowned for their exceptional renditions of Shakespeare's timeless works. Among the touring theatre companies gracing the stages of Brandon Hill Bowling Green and Boiling Wells Amphitheatre are the Lord Chamberlain's Men, the innovative Folksy Theatre Company, and the Sun & Moon Theatre Company. Each company will bring their unique interpretation of Shakespeare's plays.
The festival will also present two in-house musicals that have garnered critical acclaim and sold out shows in the past. The first, "The Tempest the Musical," will take place at Bristol's Loco Klub, while the second, "Julius Caesar The Musical," will be staged at the Mission Theatre in Bath.
Tickets for the festival are now available for purchase through the festival's official website, which provides comprehensive details about the performances, venues, and showtimes.
"We are thrilled to announce the return of the Bristol Shakespeare Festival in 2023," said Jacqui Ham, the festival's director.
"We have curated an extraordinary lineup of touring theatre companies, and our in-house musicals are sure to be the highlights of the summer. We cannot wait to share the magic of Shakespeare with our cherished audiences once again, against the backdrop of Bristol's most beloved venues."
