West Ham's long wait for a return to knockout European action comes to an end on Thursday evening when the Hammers take on Sevilla in the last-16 of the Europa League.
The last time West Ham have got this far in European football was in 1981 when the Hammers lost 4-2 on aggregate to Dinamo Tbilisi in the Cup Winners' Cup, having seen off Romanian and Spanish opposition in the earlier rounds.
It is Spain that the Hammers return to this season with a tie against Europa League masters Sevilla. The Spanish side have won the competition four of the last six times they have been in it and with the final being held in their stadium in May have extra motivation to progress past David Moyes' side.
As group winners West Ham progressed straight through to the last-16 whilst Sevilla had to see off Dinamo Zagreb in a play-off round having dropped into the competition following their third place finish in the Champions League group stages.
