A severed penis has been found lying on the ground outside a petrol station.
Police were called to the scene following a sinister report detached male genitalia had been found at the station forecourt in Mobile, Alabama, US.
Despite the shocking find, the Mobile Police Department (MPD) have since confirmed that the incident is not being investigated as an assault or murder.
They believe the detached appendage belongs to a young man tragically killed in a motorcycle accident nearby.
CCTV footage showed a black truck pulling into the station to get petrol before driving off and the penis falling to the ground.
One employee told local reporters: “It was a whole d**k.”
Police attended and cordoned off the area to collect for evidence.
Investigations revealed the penis likely belongs to Christopher Means, 29, a man killed in a motorcycle collision on the nearby motorway I-10.
Police were called to the scene of a crash at around 6am on Monday January 30 and Mr Means was pronounced dead.
According to a police statement, the preliminary investigation revealed he had been riding "southbound on the I-65 ramp to Eastbound I-10 when he lost control of the motorcycle".
The unfortunate man was hit by multiple cars.
"The rider was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by multiple vehicles; however, one driver remained on the scene," the statement read.
Police are now calling on anyone who may have been involved to come forward.
They urge: "If you were in the area or think you may have been involved, please contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Colton Futral at (251) 208-1272."
The investigation is ongoing.
