One of the region’s largest transport operator says it has “saved” a number of “lifeline” bus routes following a consultation with the public on sweeping cuts to services.
In May Go North East revealed it was planning to cut routes in Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, County Durham and Northumberland in July and launched a consultation with passengers to hear their feedback.
The company had already made cutbacks in Newcastle and North Tyneside earlier this year, claiming the changes in the way people were working and living meant changes needed to be made to ensure the network was sustainable.
