Seven Stirling district playparks share in £150k investment

Investment of almost £150,000 will help transform the play experience of children across the Stirling area this summer.

A total of seven playparks have been enhanced and upgraded in time for the holidays.

Parks to benefit include Donaldson Park in Balfron, Newton Crescent in Dunblane, King George V Park in Strathblane, Blairlogie and Kippen play areas, Polmaise Park in Fallin and Moray Park in Doune.

Investment of £85,000 has come from the Scottish Government’s renewal of playparks scheme, £30,000 from Stirling Council, as well as £20,000 of community fundraising and £11,000 from developers’ contributions.

Stirling Council has also secured more than £700,000 in funding from the Scottish Government for playpark improvements in the Stirling area over the next two financial years.

Environment, transport and net zero convener Councillor Jen Preston said: “Play has so many benefits for children, families and the wider community, particularly now the summer holidays are here.

“Playparks are important to the physical and emotional health of our children. They give them such freedom of choice and allow them to socialise with their friends, all the while keeping active.”
