Pancake Day is up there with Easter and Christmas for those with a sweet tooth. Thankfully, the offerings just get more and more decadent each year with all manner of flavours and toppings.
The Newcastle food scene is a real treat with tonnes of businesses offering some tasty dishes. Dessert is no different and thankfully there are some unreal options to take advantage of this Pancake Day.
A lot of these will have specials just for the day, so pick your poison wisely as once the clock strikes midnight (or the shop closes), you won’t be able to get them again. On the other hand, others will be blessing our tastebuds with these taste explosions for the whole week so indulge away.

The Botanist
Monument Mall, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7AL

And for the first time, the chain is offering a savoury option with customers able to choose to stack their kebab with meat.

Go out of the city centre and you’ll find the most moreish and most indulgent desserts going. Chloe Mae’s will be running a special pancake day with fluffy treats stacked with toppings.
We’re talking smores, jammie dodgers, Biscoff, Nutella with fresh strawberries and our personal favourite, the crispy bacon with maple syrup.
Kaspas
100-102 Clayton St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 5PG
Another solid favourite, Kaspas offers desserts all year round with its menu including waffles, sundaes, cakes and milkshakes. Eyes on the menu for this one as in the past, there have been some pancake bundles that are hard to say no to.
Aidan’s Kitchen
11 Starbeck Ave, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 1RH
If you want a spin on the normal things offered on pancake day, we definitely recommend you take a look at Aidan’s Kitchen. A recent offering included a stack of fluffy pancakes topped with poached rhubarb, rhubarb & vanilla jam, vanilla Chantilly cream & chopped pistachios. Run, don’t walk, to Aidan’s Kitchen this Shrove Tuesday.
Honourable muncheons
Not everywhere offers mad pancake day specials, however, there are a few places that include pancakes on their brunch menu that we don’t like to pass by. Quay Ingredient has some top-tier food on offer and is always a hit with visitors to the city. While Olive & Bean do wonderfully sweet cakes and puddings and its breakfast waffles do just the trick.
