Rosie Frankish, from Warrington, feared for her life after Daniel Little, 33, of Henshall Avenue, Warrington forced his way into her home. He launched a sickening attack on the 26-year-old, before dragging her into a taxi, wearing pyjamas and covered her in dog faeces and urine.

Anthony Fox

Anthony Fox (Cheshire Police)

Anthony Fox subjected his partner to a terrifying ordeal during a six-month campaign of abuse. He also throttled her with clothing, destroyed 10 mobile phones belonging to her and left her fleeing a hotel room while half dressed.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that the 37-year-old, formerly of Delamere Avenue in Widnes, and Ashley Lunt entered a relationship in September 2021. She moved out of her flat in order to live with Fox at his then home on Warrington Road, but "domestic incidents would occur every time he drank".

These included taking her mobile phone and snapping it around 10 separate times, regularly threatening to kill her if she left him, controlling the passwords to her social media accounts, "turning up uninvited" on work nights out and assaulting her on "more than 10 occasions" - including "pursuing her in his car and attempting to run into her". Her abuser would "apologise and replace her phones when sober", but "things came to a head" on March 4 last year - when the "relationship came to a breaking point".

On that evening, Fox "insisted" on driving Ms Lunt to a meal with friends and picking her up afterwards and "constantly" texted her while she was out - leaving around 100 messages in total. He began drinking once they were back home and "became angry", but went upstairs and fell asleep.

The following morning, the defendant demanded to see her phone and began hurling abuse again. Ms Lunt got in her car to go to work, but her car was blocked in by his.

Fox continued shouting at her and ordered her to get out of the car before pulling at the door handle with such force that he eventually ripped it off. His victim was able to drive off however, and went to a police station to report his months of abuse.

This included one incident in September 2021 at the St George's Park Hotel in Burton-on-Trent. The couple had been drinking with friends when Fox began accusing her of "making eyes" at another man, and once back in their room hurled her into a desk.

Ms Lunt managed to flee in a state of undress and locked herself in the car. He responded by smashing the rear passenger window and hitting her to the jaw with the back of his hand.

The thug then took hold of an axe he kept by his bed, raised it over her and told her "this was the end". Fox also smashed her phone and Apple watch during the terrifying incident before hitting her on the nose with the palm of his hand and going to bed.

Fox admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, battery, criminal damage and controlling and coercive behaviour. He was jailed for four years and 10 months and handed a restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Lunt, Mr Bailey and Ms Eaton for 10 years.

Andrew Kirby

Andrew Kirby appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link on Thursday (Merseyside Police)

Andrew Kirby, 31, of St Oswalds Street, Old Swan, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link after pleading guilty to one count of wounding. David Watson, prosecuting, said that Kirby's girlfriend Emma Sharelle was involved in an argument with her sister Leah Sharelle and that Kirby had become involved.

At around 3am, Emma was at her address in Glebe Hey when she was woken by the defendant and his stepbrother at the front door. Both men directed verbal abuse at Ms Sharelle and her partner Ricky Kilvington.

Ms Sharelle screamed at Kirby to “get away from her house”, as her children, aged three and 14, were present. A scuffle then took place between Mr Kilvington, who had a hammer in his possession, and Kirby.

Mr Watson said: “Ms Sharelle describes herself, in order to protect her partner, fighting in the front yard with the defendant and throwing him to the floor. “Leah Sharelle then describes the defendant standing up from the floor armed with a hammer, and hitting her once in the face with it.

“She then punched the defendant in the face in self defence, causing him to fall over a wall.” Kirby and his stepbrother then fled the scene.

Ms Sharelle suffered a bi-lateral fracture to her nose, a wound to her lip and left eye, and bruising and swelling to her left foot. Kirby was arrested on October 23 last year, and accepted attending the address but denied hitting the victim with a hammer.

Kirby was sentenced to 29 months imprisonment and a restraining order barring him from contacting the victim was implemented for ten years.

Andrei Grijuc

Andrei Grijuc appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday (Merseyside Police)

Andrei Grijuc, 30, of no fixed abode, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault, and one count of failing to surrender. Callum Ross, prosecuting, detailed that during summer last year, the defendant was working at Bon Pan Asian Restaurant in Clayton Square, where he assaulted two women on separate dates.

Mr Ross detailed the first assault: “He placed his arms around her and grabbed her right breast over her clothing. “He began to kiss the neck area of the complainant, and his hands then touched her buttocks over clothing.

“The defendant has attempted to kiss her on the lips, and has then leaned in and begun to kiss the complainants neck again. The defendant appears to have grabbed her genital area, again over clothing.

“The complainant has attempted to push the defendant away from her, and he has then grabbed both of her breasts again over clothing and attempted to give the complainant what is commonly known as a love bite on her neck.”

The assault took place over a three minute period, and Grijuc remained emotionless as CCTV of the full incident was shown in court. That victim called the police to report the assault, and during their investigations, they were made aware of another victim.

She disclosed that on another date, the defendant had touched, stroked and rubbed her right thigh, on two separate occasions.

Grijuc has two previous convictions for five offences, including theft, going equipped for theft, and failure to surrender in 2019, and criminal damage and going equipped for theft in July 2022. Jake Shaw

Jake Shaw (Merseyside Police)

A man hit his girlfriend with a shovel as she fed her son breakfast before throwing bags of dog poo at her.

Jake Shaw then suffocated his partner with a pillow in a terrifying ordeal, which only ended when her dog sprung to her defence and attacked the vile abuser - allowing her to escape. Liverpool Crown Court heard that the 30-year-old and Kirsty Burrows had been in an "on off relationship" for around eight years after meeting via a dating website.

Eve Salter, prosecuting, described how the couple had argued about their puppies on the evening of February 20 last year and she slept in her son's room that night as she "feared what the defendant may do".

The following morning, she was giving her child his breakfast in the dining room of her home on Orrell Street in St Helens when Shaw suddenly struck her over the head with a spade. Ms Burrows sought to "shield herself" with her arms and legs, where further blows with the weapon landed.

When she went to leave in order to take her children to school, the thug refused to give her her car keys until she picked up bags of dog poo front the driveway. When she did so, Shaw "proceeded to throw the bags of faeces at her".

Ms Burrows suffered swelling to the back of her head and bruises to her arms and legs as a result of this initial assault. Then, at 9pm the same day, she was upstairs in bed when he knocked at the front door and asked if he could stay the night.

She agreed on the condition that her "intoxicated" boyfriend stay on the sofa. But, around 20 minutes later, Shaw entered her bedroom and began subjecting her to a second assault.

He sat on her legs "so she could not move" before hitting her twice to the chest and once to her left side, causing bruising. Further punches then connected with the back of her head before he sat on her again and suffocated her by placing a pillow over her face.

Shaw then similarly placed both of his hands over Ms Burrows' face, leaving her "unable to breathe". She punched him back at this stage and managed to break free, after which her assailant told her: "I'm going to get you done for assault."

Shaw - now of Bankfield Court in Mirfield, West Yorkshire - admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was jailed for 10 months and handed a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Burrows.
