A total of seven vehicles have entered the final round of the 2022 Thailand Car of the Year (TCOTY), with the winner to be announced on Nov 24.
The event, organised by the Thai Automotive Journalists Association (TAJA), reached the final round with more than 40 Thai auto journalists casting votes for the finalists in the last round on Nov 3 at Motorsport Park Suvarnabhumi.
The finalists are the Ford Everest, Ford Ranger, Honda HR-V Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, MG VS Hybrid, Toyota Veloz and Toyota Yaris ATIV.
Models that didn't make the cut are the DFSK Glory 560, Ford Ranger Raptor, Haval Jolion Hybrid, Honda BR-V, Hyundai Creta and Peugeot 2008.
TAJA president Wachira Ruangmalai said this year the Thailand Automotive Institute and Thai Automotive Industry Association have also sent representatives to witness the final round.
"The scores are kept in a safe place and will be counted on Nov 24," he said. "The winner and runners-up will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held at The Hall Bangkok on Nov 24 and presided by Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungruangkij."
Suramis Charoen-ngarm, TAJA vice-president and chairman of the TCOTY 2022 Committee, added: "This year the vehicles that entered the final round are equally good, although they have different powertrains and are from different segments and price ranges.
"However, there will be only one winner for the TCOTY 2022 title."
