Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has joined Serie A side Udinese on loan until the end of the season.
Mari joined the Gunners back in January 2020 but has failed to nail down a regular spot in Mikel Arteta's starting XI.
The Spanish centre-back started the opening two Premier League games of the season - 2-0 losses to Brentford and Chelsea - but has failed to play a single minute in the league since.
The 28-year-old was behind Benjamin White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding in Arteta's pecking order before deciding that a loan move was best as he searches for more regular game time.
A statement on Arsenal.com read: "Pablo Mari has joined Serie A side Udinese on loan for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.
"The Spaniard, who initially joined on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo in January 2020, made the move permanent six months later, has made 22 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.
"The left-sided central defender is a product of the Mallorca youth system and during his time with Flamengo won the Brazilian league and South American Copa Libertadores, before playing in the Fifa Club World Cup final in 2019.
"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Pablo all the best in Italy with Udinese for the rest of this season.
"The loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."
Mari, who has a contract with the Gunners until 2024, remains unlikely to force his way back into the Arsenal first team picture upon returning from Udinese.
He was Arteta's first Arsenal signing when he became Arsenal manager but is surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium.
