Serial killer Peter Tobin died with multiple diseases including cancer, vascular disease and a lung infection, a document has revealed.
The murderer died in agonising pain at the age of 76 in October 2022 after being moved from his cell at HMP Edinburgh, also known as Saughton Prison, to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary one month prior.
As reported by Edinburgh Live, documents obtained by the Scottish Sun confirm he was battling vascular disease and a lung infection. Reports at the time noted that the cause of death was "unascertained (pending investigations)".

New Scottish Prison Service documents now state that Tobin, who was originally from Johnstone died of "Bronchopneumonia in a man with a fractured right neck of femur (surgically treated on September 9, 2022), generalised vascular disease and prostate cancer."
The details of Tobin's death were welcomed by Michael Hamilton, 72, who is the dad of one of the killer's victims - Vicky Hamilton, who died at the age of 15 in 1991.
He said: “It’s what he deserved really. He should have suffered more pain and I’d have wanted it to go on longer. I wish he’d have lived a bit longer with all that pain.”
It was reported that Tobin was given a "pauper's funeral", which was held in private and cost taxpayers less than £700 altogether. His next of kin were said to have “declined in writing to make any arrangements”.
Council chiefs arranged for his cremation at Edinburgh’s Mortonhall facility before his ashes were scattered at sea.
Tobin was serving three life sentences including that of the rape and murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, whose body he hid under the floor of a Glasgow church in 2006.
The following year he was charged with the murder of 15-year old Bathgate schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton. She had last been seen waiting at a bus stop in Redding, Falkirk, in 1991.
Her remains were unearthed by police officers who searched Tobin’s former home in Margate, Kent. Vicky’s body was discovered alongside that of a third victim, Dinah McNicol.
Dinah, 18, had not been seen since 1991 when she hitched a lift with a man, later identified as Tobin, after leaving a music festival in Hampshire.
