Sergino Dest's agent drops big hint on Chelsea transfer as Thomas Tuchel steps up January hunt

Chelsea are yet to make their mark in the January transfer window and the pressure will start to mount as deadline day creeps closer and closer.

A new left-back is thought to be at the top of Thomas Tuchel's wishlist, with Marcos Alonso currently his only first-team option in that position.

Ben Chilwell will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his cruciate ligament against Juventus before Christmas, so it is no surprise to see a host of names linked with a move.

Lucas Digne was one of the first to be rumoured with a Stamford Bridge switch, but after Chelsea eased their interest in the player, he opted for a move to Aston Villa instead.

When Tuchel was asked about potential recruits in the position, specifically whether Emerson could be recalled from Lyon, he remained tight-lipped but hinted that they are looking for a short-term solution.

“I will not give you any details from that but in general I will not hide from the fact that we have a long-term injury to Ben Chilwell as our left wing-back who will miss the season," he told his pre-match press conference earlier in January.

"It is not only what I wish for. We need to evaluate the situation. We are looking into it in this position. Emi is one of the options. I will not comment further.”

One other player to be linked with Chelsea is Barcelona's Sergino Dest.

The USA international has become a regular at the Camp Nou but with the Catalan giants remaining eager to shift any wages from their bill as soon as possible, clubs are looking closely at his situation.

However, the player's agent Michael Reschke spoke out recently and delivered a blow to Chelsea's hopes of landing the player.

“Sergino feels good in Barcelona,” he told Ran.

“It’s a great club. That’s why it’s actually rather unlikely at the moment.”
