Sentara Leaves Anthem Medicare Advantage Network January 1, So Hampton Roads Members Should Compare Plans Starting October 15

Sentara Health doctors and hospitals will be out of network for Anthem Medicare Advantage members starting January 1, 2027, after Sentara ended contract talks without an agreement. About 25,000 Medicare Advantage members are affected, according to Virginia Business.

For older adults in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the rest of Hampton Roads, the timing is pressing. Medicare's annual open enrollment begins October 15, giving members a short window to decide whether keeping their Sentara doctors means changing plans.
