Selena Gomez has urged fans to stop sending Hailey Bieber “death threats” after an alleged feud made headlines last month.
The Lose You To Love Me hitmaker took to her Instagram on Friday to call out those who had bombarded the model with vitriol.
The 30-year-old penned on her IG Story: “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity.
“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying.
“I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”
For years, the women have been pitted against one another by fans due to Gomez’s previous relationship with singer Justin Bieber, who is now married to Hailey.
The couple were in an on-off relationship over eight years before he announced he was engaged to Hailey just months after he and Gomez split for good.
Years on, the daughter of Stephen Baldwin stated that it was “all love” between her and Gomez during a September appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
The pair then put on a united front last October when they posed for photos together at a red carpet event, proving their past was water under the bridge.
Yet, speculation began to swirl in February that they were at odds after Bieber shared a TikTok of her with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye lip-syncing along to the words: “I’m not saying she deserves it, but God’s timing is always right.”
The clip was posted around the time the Hands To Myself hitmaker was subjected to negative commentary about her body image after paparazzi photos of her in Mexico were published, which led to fans assume Bieber was mocking the pop star.
As a result of the backlash online, Bieber swiftly deleted the video, and insisted in a comment that the post had nothing to do with Gomez.
She wrote: “I never comment on this type of thing but we were just having a girls’ night and did a random TikTok sound for fun. It’s not directed at anyone.”
Attempting to quell the furore, Gomez also commented: “It’s OK. I don’t let these things get me down. Be nice to everyone.”
However, the drama didn’t end there as fans then became convinced that Bieber’s pal Kylie Jenner was mocking Gomez days later over her eyebrows on social media – which they vehemently denied.
Despite the denial, hashtag #TeamSelena started to trend online, while both Jenner and Bieber reportedly lost between half a million to a million social media followers.
