It wasn't until last year she and Jennifer Stone, who played Harper, reunited to recreate an iconic moment from the show on TikTok - to the delight of fans.
Now, the Calm Down singer has opened up about her strained relationship with her Wizards of Waverly family on a podcast hosted by Jennifer and Selena's on-screen father David DeLuise.
The Wizards of Waverly Pod welcomed Selena on via video call and the 30-year-old shared she'd just had a three hour therapy session so was "feeling all the feels".
In a candid conversation, David asked the star what was the "biggest mistake of her life" - to which Selena replied: "not staying in touch."
David teared up as Selena confessed: "I felt ashamed of the decisions that I made. I didn't want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because a. you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and b. I didn't want to let you down."
"That's really sweet, and thank you for saying that," replied her on-screen dad, "Obviously I miss you."
Jennifer added: "I appreciate you saying that too because, to be perfectly blunt, there has been times where I'm like, 'Did we stop being friends because I didn't tell her what she wanted to hear? You know what I mean?' So, I appreciate you being that honest."
All three shared how much they love each other still, with Jennifer calling it "beautiful" that they could have these conversations now and learn from the past.
At another point in the podcast, the Only Murders In The Building actress, said that her time on Wizards was the "happiest" in her life. She added: "I recognise that obviously I have this different attention on me that I just didn't have then and that was a really pure time."
Recently, Selena became the most followed person on Instagram with 390 million followers, overtaking Kylie Jenner who lost one million after seeming to mock the actress online.
