Selena Gomez revealed that she had planned to adopt a child if she hadn't met the right partner by age 35.
The Lose You To Love Me singer admitted she got “used to” being alone before her boyfriend, music producer Benny Blanco, came along, and had considered taking the step into parenthood alone.
“I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it,” the 31-year-old told Time.
“Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
The Only Murders In The Building actress went public with her romance with Blanco, 36, in December, and they have been inseparable since.
The singer, who was previously diagnosed with lupus, has discussed her desire to start a family and how she might not be able to carry a child herself due to the risks associated with her bipolar medication.
She told Rolling Stone in 2022: ‘‘That’s a very big, big, present thing in my life. However I’m meant to have them, I will.”
Blanco recently expressed his desire to marry and have children with the star during an interview with Howard Stern.Responding to his comments, she said: “He can’t lie to save his life. If he’s asked a question, he’ll answer it. I know what people can do to people I love.
“My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life. But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him. It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere any time soon.”
