Michigan State is one win closer to a bowl game berth after the first week of the season, and Erick Smith of USA TODAY is giving them a bump because of it.
Smith does weekly bowl projections for USA TODAY and the Spartans were included in his updated batch this week. Smith has the Spartans landing in the Pinstripe Bowl playing against Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Michigan State was previously left off Smith’s last batch of bowl projections from the preseason.
Michigan State is 1-0 on the year following last week’s win over Florida Atlantic in the season-opener. The Spartans travel to Maryland this weekend for its first conference game of the season.
