Secret to my success? A team of strong women around me, says Katie Boulter

Katie Boulter has said she surrounds herself with “powerful women” as she sets her sights on an extended run at Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old British number one told the Standard she keeps her team small — adding it is “important” to her to have “strong” women guiding her.

The player, who was today facing Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova for a place in the third round, has worked with Serbian coach Biljana Veselinovic for the past couple of years.

Her mother, Sue, is also a key part of her team, with Boulter adding: “I have a role model in my mum, who has always been around me and been part of my team and progression.”

Speaking about surrounding herself with women, Boulter said: “It is a different feel and atmosphere. It is nice to see so many females on tour. I enjoy coming to work and having women around me that are strong and powerful. I think that is incredibly important.”

Boulter is dating Australian player Alex de Minaur. It was yesterday confirmed that the pair would be playing mixed doubles.

Boulter said teaming up had been on the cards for “some time”.

“It’s something we’ve both wanted to do for quite some time,” she said. “It’s not often that you get to have that experience together at Wimbledon. We’re going to go out there and have a swing.”

Boulter has previously told the Standard De Minaur — who she has been dating for the past few years — was her number one supporter.
