Following a recent report on the Secret Service by an independent panel established by the Department of Homeland Security, Acting Director Ronald Rowe expressed his concerns about some of the recommendations put forth by the panel. In an all-staff memo obtained from a reliable source, Rowe acknowledged the insights shared by the panel but highlighted reservations about specific recommendations.
One of the key recommendations from the panel was the reorganization of the operational directorates within the agency. Additionally, the panel suggested that leadership positions be filled by external candidates to facilitate a cultural shift within the organization. Furthermore, the panel proposed cutting certain investigative functions that were deemed as not directly contributing to the primary goal of protection within the agency.
