Russell Wilson’s return to Seattle was a bit frostier than expected.
On Monday, for the first time in his NFL career, Wilson was a visitor in the Seattle Seahawks stadium as the new quarterback of the Denver Broncos. After March’s blockbuster deal that sent Wilson to Denver for a whole bunch of pieces in return, this moment has been months in the making for Seattle’s former quarterback of 10 years.
Wilson may have arrived to the stadium in style ahead of the Monday Night Football matchup, but his reception from fans when taking the field was a bit of a surprise. Instead of celebrating the quarterback who gave them their only Super Bowl victory, Seahawks fans booed Wilson when he took the field during warmups.

While there were definitely cheers in there, the boos rang loud and clear for Wilson.

Wilson’s first snap also went as expected with the crowd reaction, but did make for a cool ESPN broadcasting moment.

Russell Wilson runs out to a loud chorus of boos by Seahawks fans.
Wild reception for a guy who brought them glory and success.

Seahawks fans booing Russell Wilson remind me of Packers fans booing Brett Favre in 2009. Bad look. You'll calm down and celebrate him down the road.

I wasn’t expecting that many boos when Russell Wilson took the field tbh

I cannot believe Russell Wilson is being booed by Seahawks fans. This guy took you to two Super Bowls and brought home one. This is not Favre to the Vikings. #MNF

Multiple thoughts can be held at the same time: Russell Wilson is the greatest quarterback ever for the #Seahawks. There's no dispute about that. He's also Public Enemy No. 1 tonight, so the fans should make it as tough as they can on him as a show of support for THEIR team.
