A new study has suggested that Liverpool is the fifth most romantic city in the UK and the second best place to go on a date.
According to men's healthcare company From Mars between May 2021 and April 2022 there were 10,030 searches for "date ideas in Liverpool" which scored against 101,400 for London; 24,200 for Manchester; 17,100 for Birmingham and 12,700 for Glasgow puts Scousers as the fifth most romantic people in the country.
They did not make any mention of adjusting for population size. Liverpool has a population of just under 500,000 for instance against London's nine million and Birmingham's 1.1m.
The results of their study however suggested Liverpool was the second best pace for finding a romantic venue in the UK, sadly just behind Manchester. They decided this by using Tripadvisor to find the number of restaurants, nightlife venues, and romantic activities in each city and averaging them over the city's size.
According to them Liverpool has "3.37 romantic places per square mile, with 1,610 restaurants, 231 nightlife venues, as well the Albert Docks and two Premier League football teams". Whether you think a football stadium is romantic or not is probably a matter of taste.
