A whisky that was selected specifically by the late Doddie Weir sold out within 20 minutes of going up for sale on Wednesday, with all profits going to charity.
Distributed by Royal Mile Whiskies, all available bottles of the Highland Single Malt AD/06:17 were purchased almost immediately. Only four bottles — number one, two, five and 55 — remain, and will be reserved for future auctions to raise money for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which funds research to find effective treatments for motor neurone disease (MND).
AD/06:17, which was distilled and bottled by Ardnamurchan Distillery, has been in development since June 2017. It was chosen from a single ex-Oloroso Sherry cask for the Scottish rugby legend, who passed away shortly after his visit to Glenbeg on November 26, 2022 to select the final cask, after six years of living with MND.
