A drinks bottling firm based in East Kilbride has been revealed as the soft drinks partner for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) GB hosted members of the Commonwealth Games team at its East Kilbride site to announce the partnership, with the firm also being named an official partner to Team Scotland.
Team Scotland gymnast Eilidh Gorrell was joined by Team Scotland chief executive Jon Doig and Glasgow 2026 chief executive Phil Batty in a tour of the facility.
The partnership between Commonwealth Games, Team Scotland, Coca-Cola and CCEP was announced ahead of Glasgow 2026, which will take place from July 23 to August 2, with 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories competing in 10 sports and six Para sports.
Ms Gorrell said it is “absolutely brilliant” to see a brand like Coca-Cola supporting this year’s games.
“As someone that’s grown up in East Kilbride, it was a real pleasure to be part of the launch and to have the opportunity to meet the staff who, like me, are local to the area and passionate about the work they do,” she said.
Seamus Kerrigan, site director at CCEP’s East Kilbride facility, said: “East Kilbride is a big part of our story in Scotland, we’ve been manufacturing locally for over 60 years, so it feels like the right place to share this news as the Commonwealth Games return to Glasgow in 2026.
“Glasgow 2026 is an exciting moment for the country and we’re proud to support the Games in a way that reflects our focus on sustainability and the communities around us.”
