Scott Wright Rangers transfer exit option emerges as Steven Gerrard 'eyes' reunion at Al-Ettifaq

Scott Wright has been placed on a list of targets by Steven Gerrard, according to a report.

The former Rangers boss is the latest big name to make the move to Saudi Arabia as he takes on his third dugout role with Al-Ettifaq. It's been a busy summer with a number of big names moving to the Middle East to join Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante will be new team-mates of Jota after Celtic sold the winger to Al-Ittihad.

Now the Daily Record report Light Blues star Wright could be the latest name from Scottish football targetted with his old boss preparing an offer to land his services in his new gig. The Liverpool and England hero snapped up the 25-year-old on a free transfer from Aberdeen during his time at Ibrox and despite keeping him on the fringes of his first team at that period he's reportedly ready to splash some cash on a reunion.

Michael Beale is currently going through a summer rebuild at Rangers as he puts his own stamp on the squad he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Cyriel Dessers is set to become the sixth summer arrival following Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland, Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers in putting pen to paper.

A number of high profile players like Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent left at the end of last season with their contracts expired. They are expected to be joined by a number of fringe men with Wright likely to fall into that bracket.

Beale and Co start their Scottish Premiership campaign in front of the Sky Sports cameras against Kilmarnock on August 5 with prepartions well underway in pre-season.

They've also the small matter of Champions League qualifiers to negotiate as they bid to join rivals Celtic at Europe's top table once again this season.
