Scott Mills 'abruptly pulled from major boyband concerts' and Bake Off episode after firing

Scott Mills has reportedly been removed from the Boyzone concerts at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

A celebrity episode of The Great British Bake Off featuring Mills will also not be broadcast, Channel 4 has said.

The former BBC Radio 2 DJ was sacked last month after it emerged he was investigated over alleged offences against a boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000.

The 53-year-old allegedly remained in contact with the boy for years until around 2006. The investigation was dropped due to lack of evidence.

Since his firing, he has lost a series of job opportunities including being replaced as the host of the Race Across The World podcast and removed from episodes of Top Of The Pops.

Now, it has been claimed Arsenal has removed any mention of the presenter from their website, after he was due to perform DJ sets at the Boyzone concerts in June.

It had been announced in February that he would be supporting the Irish boyband over two nights.

Boyzone are playing Two For The Road gigs at the Emirates on June 5 and 6.

However, any trace of Mills’ name is now gone from the Arsenal page and it is understood that he will no longer be appearing at the shows, according to the Mail.

The Standard has contacted Mills’ representatives for comment.

S Club and B*Witched were also due to support Boyzone on each night.

Discussing his upcoming appearances in promotional material, Mills had said: “What a dream to support the lads this summer.

“It's going to be 2 nights of big tunes, big singalongs and plenty of 90s nostalgia. I hope you're ready!”

Mills’ GBBO episode will also be removed.

He had already filmed The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, but Channel 4 said it had "carefully considered the circumstances" and decided not to air the episode featuring him.

"Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don't believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time," Channel 4 said.

"An alternative episode of Celebrity GBBO will go out in its place."

Mills had been due to appear in an episode of the baking competition alongside Rag'n'Bone Man, DJ Edith Bowman and JLS star Aston Merrygold.

Mills was abruptly taken off air by the BBC last month before his firing over allegations related to his "personal conduct".

The BBC confirmed it knew in 2017 about the police investigation into one of its biggest stars, but said it “acted decisively” to sack him after receiving “new information” in recent weeks.

It is not clear whether BBC bosses knew of the alleged victim’s age in 2017, but current managers took the decision to sack Mills after learning they had been under 16, BBC News reported.

The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into Mills in 2016.

He was questioned in 2018 and the case was closed in 2019 after prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges.

Mills has since broken his silence on the firing, saying: “Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed 7 years ago, I hope that the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment on this matter.

He concluded: “I wish to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have reached out to me with kindness, my former colleagues, and my beloved listeners, who I greatly miss.”
