A Scots wife has advertised a coffin online which she is giving away because "her husband has lived longer than she had hoped". Margaret Stables posted an advert for the brand new coffin which she originally purchased for her partner on Facebook Marketplace.
The woman, from Easdale near Oban, has left social media users in stitches after the listing was made on Monday. The picture placed alongside the advert showed the sparkling new, silver coffin with a white pillow inside.
Margaret wrote: "Giving away a brand new coffin. Bought it for my husband but he has lived longer than I had hoped and expected so no longer required and it’s cluttering up my house.
"Pillow not included as my dog has taken to it. I am in Easdale but can deliver within reason."
Naturally a number of witty comments quickly appeared on the post.
One person joked: "Does it fit any husband?" while another tagged her partner and said: "Early Christmas present for you babe?"
Meanwhile a third said: "I bought one of these last year as a birthday pressie for the mother-in-law. She didn't use it - so she's getting buggerall this year!"
Many others were left scratching their heads as to whether the listing was for real - but Margaret has since told the Record that it is a genuine advert and told how she purchased the coffin for her husband after he annoyed her when drunk.
Speaking to the Record, Margaret said: "I bought it in lockdown for a laugh cause we we out at a friends garden party one night. We’d both had a few too many to drink and he was annoying me, so I thought it’d be a laugh to buy this for him."
