A teen has died after reportedly collapsing on a football pitch at a secondary school in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the incident at Forrester High School on Broomhouse Road at around 3pm on Tuesday, March 13.

Despite paramedics's best efforts, the 15-year-old passed away following the incident, which Edinburgh Live reports happened on a nearby football pitch.

Cops were spotted in the area in the hours after the tragedy. The force say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the death and added: "On Tuesday, March 14, police were called to a report of a 15-year-old boy having collapsed on Broomhouse Road.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Devastated members of the public have been invited to a local church for a period of reflection following the teen's death.

A short post from St David's Broomhouse Parish Church read: "Following the difficult circumstances earlier today, the church will be open tonight, 8pm-9pm for quiet reflection and the opportunity to light a candle. All are welcome."
