A Scots man was left unconscious in the street after being battered by two thugs he confronted for tipping over a wheelie bin.
Paul Wither, from Leslie in Fife, was walking along the High Street, when he encountered two thugs emptying the bin's contents outside a local restaurant around 8.55pm on Saturday March 26.
However, when the 56-year-old stopped to speak to them and ask the pair what they were doing, the sick thugs attacked him and started punching him in the face.
The cowardly duo then walked away with Paul knocked out on Leslie High Street.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he explained "I stopped to give them a row and then the pair of them just went right for me and rained down the blows.
"I didn't get a good look at them but they were in their late 20s or early 30s by the looks of it.
"I just went to speak to them about the bins and next thing I know I was waking up with police officers and some local folk looking over me."
Paul was rushed to hospital and thankfully released soon after, but says he is lucky as things could have ended up worse.
The Fife man told the Record how he hit his head off the pavement and blacked out after being smacked, leaving a large swelling at the base of his skull.
Paul also suffers from a heart disease but thankfully he is now on the road to a full recovery and is most concerned about losing his glasses in the attack.
He continued: "I had fallen to the ground and was knocked out when my head hit the pavement.
"I went to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy afterwards and had severe bruising on my jaw and a massive bump on the back of my head.
"My glasses were also destroyed in the attack and I can't afford new ones so I just need to suffer."
So far the police investigation has not led to any arrests and Paul is making an appeal for witnesses who may have seen the attack, or caught it on CCTV, to come forward.
In particular he asks that the drivers of a white Ford Focus or Fiesta get in touch with police.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.55pm on Saturday, 26 March, police were called to a report of a 56-year-old man assaulted in High Street, Leslie.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
