Florida's Second Vibrio Death of the Year Involved an Inland County, and the State Does Not Publish Exposure Routes

Florida has confirmed a second death from Vibrio vulnificus this year, in an adult from Marion County, according to a surveillance update from the Florida Department of Health. The state's confirmed case total for 2026 is now 14.

Marion County sits in north-central Florida, built around Ocala and horse country. It has no coastline.
