Scots dog stolen from hammock on Loch Lomond island by 'men who fled on speedboat'

A devastated dog owner has launched a desperate appeal to find her beloved Border Terrier who she believes was stolen from a hammock on an island in Loch Lomond.

Frances Curley, from Troon, was camping on Inchconnachan at the weekend with her dog Skye, when the two-and-a-half-year-old pet disappeared.

The island is uninhabited and home to a population of wallabies.

Frances says she is certain her partially-sighted dog was stolen from his hammock while she was making dinner on Sunday afternoon, reports Glasgow Live.

Distraught Frances searched the island but could't find Skye, who was wearing a pink and white striped collar with two tags, one which read “Fur ever yours”.

During the initial search for Skye, two paddle-boarders said they had witnessed two men take a little brown dog into a speedboat and leave the island.

She believes crooks swiped Skye around 4.15pm on Sunday and took to Facebook to ask the public's help in finding Skye.

Frances has appealed for the two men to get in contact with her so they can be ruled out of the search for Skye.

She is also looking to speak to anyone who was on Inchconnachan or around Loch Lomond on Sunday who may have witnessed someone with Skye.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that enquiries are ongoing into the theft of a border terrier dog from the Loch Lomond area.

“The theft took place on Inchmoan Island between 16.15 and 16.25pm on Sunday, 19 June. Police are making enquiries locally and with the National Park Authority regarding a white speedboat possibly being used by persons involved in this theft.

“Anyone with information which could assist officers should call 101, quoting incident 0213 of 20 June, 2022. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
