ScotRail to add more Edinburgh services in new timetable this month

ScotRail is set to make some major changes to their timetable, which includes adding more services to and from Edinburgh this month.

From Sunday, May 21, a new timetable is set to be introduced across the railway, which the railway company says will "representing another step forward for Scotland’s Railway, as we continue to recover from the impact of the pandemic."

The main change that will affect Edinburgh is the addition of services on the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High route at the weekend.

Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh (via Falkirk High) will be increased to a 15-minute frequency in each direction from 8:45am to 5:15pm on Saturdays.

ScotRail noted that: "This reflects the growing numbers of customers now using the service out with peak times compared to before the pandemic as Saturday is now the busiest day on the route."

As part of a trial, ScotRail will also be increasing the number of services between Dundee and Edinburgh, which call at Cupar, from one to two per hour - the same as Leuchars.

The railway company added: "As with all timetable changes, we'd encourage you to check your journey before you travel to see which services are affected by the changes as there may be alterations to the times of some remaining services."
