Scots are set to be battered by severe gales before a band of snow sweeps over a large part of the country over the weekend.
The Met Office has warned that winds will pick up to severe in areas in the far north of Scotland on Friday afternoon.
High gusts will then become more widespread overnight, while rain showers move in from the west of the country.
