Scotland Six Nations squad announced as five uncapped players named in Gregor Townsend's plans

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has announced his squad for next month's Six Nations tournament.

There is a place for Rutherglen's Jonny Gray in the team. The 27-year-old is currently with Exeter Chiefs and has 66 caps for his country.

Five uncapped players have been called up alongside the Rutherglen man, including Saracens back-row forward Andy Christie and London Irish pair Ben White and Kyle Rowe.

Glasgow Warriors' Rory Darge has been also been selected and the fifth uncapped player is Edinburgh scrum-half Ben Vellacott.

Glasgow half-backs Jamie Dobie, George Horne and Ross Thompson drop out, as does Harlequins centre Huw Jones and Gloucester stand-off Adam Hastings.

Scotland’s first game of the championship is against England at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 5 February before a trip to Wales a week later.

Townsend's side then face France, Italy and Ireland.
