A mum-of-one was horrified when she looked out her window after hearing loud bangs while watching television with her husband.
Nikki Shield was at home with her husband, Mel, on Tuesday, March 21, when she heard seven or eight loud bangs come from outside their home in a cul-de-sac on Canning Road in Southport. She told the ECHO: "It was just before 9pm, me and my husband were watching TV.
"We heard seven or eight loud bangs and then when my husband ran outside he saw two people running out our driveway and out the cul de sac. We had no idea what was going on. We just assumed it was something else and nothing to do with us."

When Nikki looked outside she saw all the glass on her Suzuki Celerio had been smashed. Since the incident, the 33-year-old has been struggling to sleep and has had to console her daughter Evie. She continued: "There was glass everywhere and it was all over the drive.
"It's really scary. Literally no idea why this has happened. We've been racking our brains, we don't involve ourselves with any trouble. We don't know what's happened.
"Evie was just sobbing, she didn't know what had happened. It's so difficult with a five-year-old. We're not sleeping, we're just thinking they might come back. We're now trying to sort some extra security."
The teaching assistant and her husband have now had a fundraiser set up to help them, with her friend starting the GoFundMe after the incident. You can donate here.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "We can confirm that officers have been investigating damage to a car in Southport reported yesterday, Wednesday 22 March. At around 8.50pm, a resident of Canning Road reported the windows of her car being smashed, reportedly by two unknown youths who made off.
