Emergency services raced to the A711 Dalbeattie to Kirkcudbright road around 1.25pm today, between Kirkcudbright and Mutehill. Cops locked down a section of the road and it is understood it will remain closed for several hours.

The schoolboy was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to be treated. His condition is not yet known.

The public have been urged to avoid the area and a diversion has been put in place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.25pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a quad bike on the A711 at Kirkcudbright.
