Schoolboy 'blue lighted' to hospital after being knocked down on Lanarkshire road

A child is in hospital after being knocked down by a car on a busy Scots road.

The schoolboy, 12, had been walking on Hyndford Road in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, when he was struck by the vehicle at 2pm yesterday (Thursday).

Medics raced to the scene and on arrival, the child was found injured.

He was blue-lighted to Wishaw General, where his current condition is unknown.

The road was closed for over three hours to allow a police investigation to take place.

Officers probing the incident say inquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland source told Lanarkshire Live : "At 2pm on Thursday (January 19), officers were called to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Hyndford Road, Lanark.

"The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw.

"The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 5.10pm. Inquiries are ongoing."
