Scary Bruno Guimaraes truth has even got measured Newcastle boss Eddie Howe 'really excited'

Eddie Howe is 'really excited' about the levels Bruno Guimaraes could reach after the Brazil international made an impressive start to his Newcastle United career.

Bruno was the toast of Tyneside on Easter Sunday after scoring both goals, including a dramatic 95th-minute winner, in the Magpies' 2-1 win against Leicester City at St James' Park. It said it all about Bruno's winning mentality that it was the midfielder sprinting 82 yards at the death to get his head on the end of Joe Willock's cross to secure a priceless victory.

Newcastle did not sign Bruno to put the ball in the back of the net, but those goals against Leicester and a sensational back-heel volley at Southampton last month have earned six valuable points as Howe's side pulled away from danger. Away from goal, too, Bruno has brought a lot to this Newcastle side with his composure on the ball, accuracy in possession and ability to win it back.

Howe was keen to ease Bruno in following his big-money move from Lyon in the mid-season window, but the playmaker is now one of the first names on the team sheet. While no one expects Bruno to become a regular goalscorer for the club, there can be no doubt that the 24-year-old will only get better as he continues to adjust to life in the Premier League - which is a scary prospect.

"He's an incredible person and incredible footballer so we consider ourselves very fortunate to have him with us," Howe told Match of the Day. "We hope he grows and develops in our team.

"It's certainly really exciting to think of the possibilities and the levels that he could reach. I'm really pleased on a personal note that he's settled in well and quickly, and the supporters have certainly taken to him."
