Scarlett Moffatt has weighed in on the most divisive contestant on this year's Love Island in a very honest Instagram video.
The former Gogglebox star singled out the treatment of former England footballer Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma who has been accused of being 'rude' after dismissing one of the boys in the villa on the first day.
Addressing the backlash on her Instagram stories, Scarlett called for viewers to 'be kind' as she stuck up for the swimwear brand owner and said she was her favourite so far.
"I've got to say Gemma is my favourite girl already, like she seems very down to earth. "She's so dinky small and 19 – so young.." gushed Scarlett.
She later returned to her social media after seeing criticism of the dressage star after the second episode aired on Tuesday night.
"Poor Gemma Owen. I’ve seen so many nasty TikToks. People saying she’s trying to tell everyone her dad’s Michael Owen.
“Firstly, so what? He is. I talk about my family all the time," she fumed.
“Secondly, someone asked her what her second name was, she said Owen, which it is.
“Thirdly, someone was talking about football and she had an opinion on it.”
Calling internet trolls out for their bad behaviour, the TV presenter said: “I’m not saying that people can’t have an opinion on people on the telly.
“But when those opinions become negativity, become disrespectful, become almost bullying, that’s when it needs to stop.”
Explaining her point, 31-year-old Scarlett continued: “Just because these people are aesthetically beautiful doesn’t mean that they don’t have feelings or emotions or souls, you know.
“They are someone’s daughter, they are someone’s son. You know, I think we need to just really respect people.”
Before entering the villa, international dressage rider and swimwear company owner Gemma was the bookies' favourite to win this year’s Love Island.
But her odds were slashed to third place after appearing in just one episode of the show.
The girls who are currently favourites to win are Paige and Tasha, according to Ladbrokes.
Some viewers took to Twitter to complain about Gemma’s attitude, with some branding her “rude”.
The public chose for her to be coupled up with Welsh student Liam Llewellyn, but she seemed less than impressed with the decision.
After making her dislike known she refused to kiss Liam in a game of 'truth or dare' - leaving Paige to give him an awkward lap dance so that he didn't feel left out.
Gemma also mocked Italian stallion Luca's surname – Bish - and fans were not impressed.
*Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
