Saturday Night Takeaway viewers were not impressed with the latest guest announcer on the ITV show.
Actor and comedian Steve Coogan appeared in the studio as his alter ego Alan Partridge, but not everyone was happy to see him.
A parody of British television personalities, Alan Partridge is a tasteless and inept right-wing broadcaster whose inflated sense of celebrity drives him to treachery and shameless self-promotion.
Since his debut in 1991, he has appeared in media including radio and television series, books, and a feature film - and now Saturday Night Takeaway.
Throughout the 90-minute show, Alan made various derogatory comments and said he usually spends his Saturday nights on Tinder dates with various divorcees.
He also made several attempts to promote his upcoming tour and even accused Ant and Dec of not mentioning it enough.
Although the live audience were heard laughing, viewers watching at home clearly weren't and took to Twitter to comment.
"Alan Partridge, or Steve Coogan rather was a complete disaster, so unfunny and too cringe. Loved everything else and Ant and Dec as always. #SaturdayNightTakeaway," one person said.
Another tweeted: "#SaturdayNightTakeaway absolutely love ant and dec being a fellow Geordie but found Alan partridge very patronising on the show tonight like he was to good to be there, might have been planned for him to be that way but did not go down well for me."
A third viewer commented: "Alan partridge really is spoiling #SaturdayNightTakeaway for me tonight."
Someone else wrote: "Probably just me but found 'Alan Partridge" so not funny on #SaturdayNightTakeaway. Ruining usual hilarious programme."
And another viewer said: "nice casual misogyny #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues next weekend.
