Ant McPartlin was left 'convinced' he'd stumbled upon some 'distant relatives' on the set of Saturday Night Takeaway.
One of the longest entertainment shows on TV now, Takeaway returned for a brand new series last weekend, with Ant and presenting partner in crime, Dec Donnelly back in the studio to deliver their 90 minute long broadcast to millions of viewers at home.
The new series has already thrown up plenty of surprises including Ant and Dec staging a fake baby scan, Ant breaking the rules of Ring My Bell and the lads being 'banned' from their own show by guest Mimi Webb. Ring My Bell returned for 2023 on Saturday night, which also brought an episode of Takeaway's own spin-off show Big Wig Manor.
The first part included appearances from the likes of AJ Odudu, Dermot O'Leary and Judi Love, but it was something that went on behind the scenes that gave Ant and Dec the biggest surprise, when Ant clocked two portraits on the wall of people that bared more than a passing resemblance to him.
In the clip, which Ant and Dec shared on their social media accounts, Ant tells the camera: "The house is full of paintings of people. And I've spotted to that look a little bit like my ancestors."
As the camera focuses in on the first portrait, Ant shouts: "Don't they?! It's like literally me!" The focus then shifts to another picture, with Ant reacting: "Look at this dude! What?! Do you think they're my relations? It's like doing DNA Journey again!"
Responding to the video, one of the hosts' Twitter followers wrote: "The first one is definitely a distant relation!!! Love the new drama guys," with a second replying: "Extraordinary likeness," and another joking: "Ant and Dec’s DNA Journey… Continued!!"
