ITV Saturday Kitchen’s regular James Martin detailed the state of his health with fans recently.

Martin underwent an operation last month and was out of action for some time.

He recently gave an update about why he needed the operation after a bout of previous health scares.

The TV chef revealed the operation he underwent was knee surgery due to ongoing problems.

Following surgery, he was quick to tell fans that he was out of hospital and wrote: “Just a message to say many thanks for all you kind messages, operation done now. Can’t sleep but guess that’s a small price to pay for now. Back and fighting fit soon!,“ James wrote.

Fans were first alerted to Martin’s health issue when he was taken to hospital in November writing that he needed an MRI scan.

He wrote: “Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped hi off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one.”

His health update sparked concern among his fans, who rushed to post their well-wishes in the comments section.

One follower commented: “Hope it’s nothing serious for either of you James.”

“MRI??? Ohh blimey. Is that for you or Ralph. What’s going on???” another wrote.

A third added: “Hope nothing too serious for both of you” while a follower shared: “Goodness. Hope it’s not too serious for either of you.”

Martin had previously taken time off from work and was noticeably absent on Saturday kitchen for a long period.

He had admitted it was because he “wasn’t very well” and had to have a “few operations”.

The chef had previously witnessed a heart attack, which made him revaluate his own health.

Since then, he has lost his excess weight and is looking much healthier, which he admits was largely down to giving up fizzy drinks.
