Sarah Paulson reveals she gave Pedro Pascal her acting pay so he could eat as struggling actor

Sarah Paulson has revealed she helped Pedro Pascal financially while he was struggling to land acting roles in the past.

In a new profile of The Last of Us actor, the American Horror Story star, 48, discussed her and Pascal’s long time friendship and revealed that she used to give him “money to feed himself”.

She told Esquire: “He’s talked about this publicly but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself.”

The Ocean’s 8 star went on to share what she believes is Pascal’s ‘je ne sais quoi’, explaining that there’s something about him that makes you “want him to succeed”.

She continued: “And that, to me, is the sign of a major movie star. I’m ready for him to take the reins from the guys from romantic comedies [of the] past, like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all these guys.

“He can be all that. Let’s remake Die Hard with Pedro. Remake all the Lethal Weapon movies with Pedro.”

Reflecting on their past, Paulson revealed that she and Pascal would go to see movies together and “get so lost in them”.

She reflected: “I think there were things we wanted to escape mentally, emotionally, spiritually.”

In recent years, Pascal has received recognition for his acclaimed performances in HBO shows such as Game of Thrones and The Last of Us.

The actor, 48, will next appear alongside Ethan Hawke in acclaimed director Pedro Almodóvar’s short Western, Strange Way of Life.

The film, Almodóvar’s second work in the English language, will receive its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, followed by a theatrical release in the UK later this year.
