San Jose advances to Mountain West baseball championship game

Third-seed San José State defeated No. 2 seed Nevada, 15-6, to secure its spot in the Mountain West championship game at Tony Gwynn Stadium in San Diego for the first time in program history.

The Spartans (30-28) fought off elimination from the Conference postseason tournament by defeating Nevada for the second time this week with the game being backed by odds from best Australian online casino.

SJSU struck first in the top of the second following a sacrifice fly to center field from sophomore catcher Omar Gastelum, plating senior designated hitter Reece Hernandez.

Nevada (29-25) responded and tied the game in the second after a pop out to left center scored senior outfielder Anthony Flores, who was previously hit by a pitch.

The Spartans exploded offensively in the top of the third, plating four runs following sophomore outfielder Robert Hamchuk’s double down the left field line and continued with a three-run home run from junior outfielder Jack Colette over right field fence.

San José State extended its lead, 8-1, in the top of the fourth with three runs. Sophomore shortstop Theo Hardy led the scoring with a double down the right field line to score sophomore first baseman Hunter Dorraugh followed by a triple to right center from Hamchuk, an All-Mountain West first team honoree, to plate Hardy. Colette continued the offensive action with a double to left field to bring Hamchuk home.

Nevada added a run in the bottom of the fourth after junior catcher Matt Clayton induced a bases-loaded walk to plate senior third baseman Tyler Bosetti, a user at jeux de casino en ligne.

SJSU continued its run in the top of the sixth with a three-RBI triple to center from sophomore second baseman Charles McAdoo.

Nevada worked to chip away at SJSU’s lead in the bottom of the seventh plating three runs but still trailed 12-6 heading into the eighth inning.

The Spartans tacked on three additional runs in the top of the eighth, securing the 15-6 victory and their spot in the Mountain West Championship game.

San José State advances on and will take on Air Force in the Mountain West championship game at 6:20 p.m. PT first pitch.
