Samsung and Activision partner on Modern Warfare 4 with Odyssey G9 display tie-in

Samsung Electronics has made official a partnership with Activision Blizzard for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a game currently in development at Infinity Ward. The deal means Samsung's premium gaming monitor line will be placed at the center of how the upcoming title will be paraded to the world.

What the Odyssey G9 brings to the battlefield

Samsung and Activision Blizzard started working together early in MW4's development cycle, with the two companies fine tuning the game's performance on the Odyssey G9 monitor specifically.

The Odyssey G9's 32:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio is natively supported in Modern Warfare 4, meaning, instead of a standard widescreen setup, players will now get a significantly wider field of view. The monitor's HDR10+ Gaming technology is tasked with rendering colors and brightness levels with greater accuracy in sun-drenched outdoor maps and dark, grimy corridors where bad guys lurk at every turn and can catch you off-guard with poor visuals.

Modern Warfare 4 is set largely in Korea, carries an October release window, and you can watch the trailer here:

Beta codes, a live showcase, and Gamescom perks

From what we can see, the partnership delivers at least two cool benefits for players before the game even launches.

This Friday August 21, Activision will host a "Call of Duty: Next" showcase, which Samsung will livestream via the Samsung Gaming Hub. If you watch through the Hub, you’ll have a chance to receive early-access PC beta codes, with as many as 50,000 codes on offer for the beta running from August 21 to 24.

At Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany (August 26 to 30), meanwhile, Samsung's booth will feature a hands-on demo zone running the game on Odyssey monitors. A raffle open to booth visitors will distribute 500 limited-edition Vault Edition game codes.

What the executives said

The new game is set mostly in Korea

Lee Heon, Vice President of Samsung's Visual Display Business, said of the deal: "It is meaningful to introduce a high-level Call of Duty gaming experience to global gamers through the superior picture quality of Samsung TVs and Odyssey monitors. We will continue to expand collaborations with global game companies to strengthen our leadership in the gaming market.”

Cody Neal, Head of Partnerships at Activision Blizzard, added: "Thanks to Samsung's display and gaming technology, we are able to showcase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 in a new and exciting way. Through our collaboration with Samsung, we will bring the game to life with the vivid picture quality, immersion, and fast response times that match the signature speed and intense action of Call of Duty.”

Why this deal is bigger than a monitor promotion

Samsung will use this partnership to rubbe stamp the Odyssey G9 as the definitive screen for first-person shooters at the premium end. Hardware partnerships baked into development from early on carry more credibility than post-launch badge deals. When a game ships with native support for a specific monitor's feature set, the argument for owning that monitor gets stronger.

For Activision Blizzard, the arrangement hands MW4 a guaranteed showcase vehicle through the Samsung Gaming Hub at launch, reaching an audience that already owns or is considering high-end display hardware. Offering beta codes to Hub viewers also gives the platform a reason to drive traffic to the showcase rather than passively listing it.

It's a straightforward co-marketing structure, but the early-development integration adds depth that separates it from a simple logo placement.

What's next

The "Call of Duty: Next" showcase streams on August 21 through the Samsung Gaming Hub, with the Modern Warfare 4 PC beta running immediately after through August 24. Players looking for a hands-on experience in person can visit Samsung's Gamescom booth between August 26 and 30 in Cologne for a chance at one of the 500 Vault Edition codes. The game itself is targeting an October launch.
