Sam Fender has sprung a huge surprise on his fans in Newcastle with special edition albums in recognition of his highly anticipated gigs at St James' Park this weekend.
After months and months of counting down to the epic shows, it is now time for over 100,000 fans to flock to NUFC's famous ground to see Sam and his band in action on what will be career defining moments in their careers to date. When tickets for the concerts when on sale in the autumn, the demand for tickets caused a near meltdown on Ticketmaster, as people clamoured to get their hands on one.
While Sam's support acts have been confirmed for a while, as have the St James' Park stage times, there is some mystery surrounding Sam's setlist, given his hasn't performed a full headline show in months. And something else which has really sparked fans in Newcastle's curiosity over the last few days are the billboards that went up close to the stadium on Wednesday.

There are four different posters arriving Sam's album titles on Newcastle United tops. There is a shirt with 1 on for Hypersonic Missiles, the second poster with a number 2 shirt for Seventeen Going Under and, that's where the plot thickened, as there's then a poster with a 3 shirt on, with a QR code right next to it.
Well now, all has been revealed as the QR code, which went live at 8am on Friday, June 9 is for fans to access a pre-order for special edition commemorative St James' Park picture discs of Sam's upcoming third album.
There will be two different picture discs - one for each night of the show - that will feature photos from the gigs and be a special collector’s edition for the fans. Sam wanted to do something specifically to commemorate these dates as they're such a huge landmark for him.
The picture discs will be available for one week only on Sam’s website store, shutting off at 6pm the following Saturday. For more information visit samfender.com/toon.
Fans heading to St James' Park at the weekend will also need to be aware of Sam Fender entry and security rules, special advice for people with standing tickets and the Metro closures in place for both concerts.
