Sam Faiers defends herself as she says she hasn't shared a bed with partner Paul Knightly 'for a long time'

Samantha Faiers has defended her reasons for sleeping separately to her partner. The former The Only Way is Essex star has been in a relationship with Paul Knightly since meeting back in 2014.

Sam had recently split with her on-off partner and TOWIE co-star Joey Essex, and has previously said she was shocked to have found her soulmate Paul, who was a property developer at the time, so soon after. And after dating for ten months, the 31-year-old fell pregnant with the couple's first child.

She gave birth in December 2015 to the pair's son, Paul Jr and in November 2017, the couple welcomed their second child, a daughter named Rosie. And earlier this year, the loved-up couple welcomed their third child together, a baby boy they have named Edward. Announcing the happy new s to her 2.5 million Instagram followers, the ex-The Mummy Diaries star shared a sweet photo video featuring fireworks and glimpses of Sam during her water birth.

"My whole world," she wrote alongside a blue heart. No words can describe how in love we are with you baby boy. I honestly can’t explain my feelings right now. Mummy loves you more than you could ever imagine."

And with cameras having following parts of Paul and Sam's relationship over the years, fans have come to be interested in the more personal parts of their lives - including their sleeping arrangements. Speaking to OK!, Sam revealed that the pair haven’t shared a bed “for a long time” and have prioritised their growing family.

Opening up about co-sleeping with their children, Sam said of her and her long-term partner: "In our household, anything goes. We sleep in whatever beds to make sure everyone gets a good night’s sleep. Paul and I are so close anyway. We spend most of our days together and do everything together, but we don’t share a bed and we haven’t for a long time."

She went on to admit that she prefers sleeping with her children because Paul keeps her awake with his snoring: "It’s funny because before Edward was born we had one night to ourselves where we shared a bed," Sam explained.

"I was really tired and wanted to sleep, and he wanted the telly on late – he had some football catch-up on so the room was bright green – and he’s on his phone, then when he goes to sleep he’s snoring. I was like, actually I much prefer sleeping with the kids!"

Sam also opened up to the publication about the birth of her third child - and the sweet moment her eldest son told her the sex of his new baby sibling.

“He [Edward] came straight onto me for skin-to-skin," Sam said as she discussed her home water birth. "We had a plan for Little Paul to tell me what sex the baby was and all of a sudden he said ‘It’s a boy!'" She continued: "I feel so blessed that I’ve got one of each. I didn’t have a preference. It took him a couple minutes to cry - then he let out this immense cry. It was so loud!"

Sam didn't announce her baby boy's name straight away but has now explained her reasons for the traditional choice. "Edward is a name I’ve always loved. I wanted Little Paul to be called Edward," the new mum-of-three said.

"Big Paul’s middle name is Edward. When we met and he said his middle name was Edward, I told him it was my favourite name." And when asked about baby Edward’s middle name, Sam replied with a laugh: "It's Paul."
