The latest inflation figures suggest that even six-figure earners are facing renewed pressure on their purchasing power, particularly in cities where housing, transportation, and childcare consume large portions of household budgets.
U.S. inflation accelerated to 3.7% in September, up from 3.4% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report released Wednesday. Consumer prices increased 0.6% during the month, driven largely by a sharp rise in gasoline prices, while housing and other essential expenses continued climbing. The Producer's Price Index also jumped last month, coming in much hotter than expected.
