Consumer experts at Which? are warning shoppers that they could be wasting as much as £279 a year simply by shopping in the wrong place. It relates to smaller Sainsbury's and Tesco stores, which often charge more for certain conveniences goods.
A new checklist released by the experts said that households spent an average of £10.20 a week more at a Sainsbury's Local rather than a regular supermarket, adding up to £322 a year. In the same vein, a basket of goods at a Tesco Express added up to an average of £279 more over 12 months.
Which? analysed the average prices of 48 items at the two convenience chains in February 2021 and highlighted its research again this week. It comes as researchers at Kantar warned the average food bill could rise by £271 this year, reports the MEN.
